Helena Cortés Gabaudan: "Paisaje interno versus paisaje externo. O por qué pocos paisajes román

RESUMEN. En la presente contribución se presentará una herramienta hermenéutica cuyo propósito es ayudar a analizar en qué medida los cuadros de paisajes más típicos de la época romántica, y que pasan unánimemente por ser románticos, responden o no en realidad a las premisas filosóficas del movimiento, sobre todo por lo que respecta a la propia naturaleza que aparece en dichos cuadros. A tal fin se ha acuñado una distinción entre ‘paisaje externo’ y ‘paisaje interno’. Se eligen e interpretan ejemplarmente tres cuadros – de Caspar David Friedrich, Carl Friedrich Lessing y Karl Friedrich Schinkel- para ilustrar tres distintos grados de correspondencia entre la filosofía romántica y su concepto de naturaleza y los distintos tipos de paisajismo existentes durante dicho periodo.

ABSTRACT. In this essay I will present a new hermeneutical tool to analize whether the most typical romantic landscape pictures are in fact romantic or not, that is to say if they are really coherent with the philosophical principles of the romantic movement. The new tool in order to achieve this goal is a distinction between ‘external landscapes’ and ‘internal landscapes’. I will select three exemplar pictures –from Caspar David Friedrich, Carl Friedrich Lessing and Karl Friedrich Schinkel- with my interpretation of then, to illustrate three different degrees of coincidence between the romantic philosophy and comprehension of nature and the different types of landscape painting in this period.
